Using YapJar

YapJar lets you talk for a minute or two, turns what you said into a written entry, and keeps your entries in a private archive you can page back through. Your phone does the listening — see the Privacy Policy for exactly where the audio and the transcript go. You agree to use YapJar lawfully and to only record content you have the right to record.

Your Account

You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure. If you believe your account has been accessed without permission, contact support immediately.

Your Content

You own your entries — the transcripts of what you said, the written entries created from them, and their tags. We store them on your behalf so you can access them across sessions. You can delete any entry, or your entire account, at any time.

AI-generated summaries and tags are produced by Anthropic's Claude model and may occasionally be inaccurate or miss nuance. The raw transcript is always preserved alongside them.

Subscriptions

YapJar is free to use. Every account can write one journal entry a day at no cost, and can capture, read, search and export everything it has written without limit. Membership adds the second half of the day and the weekly look back, for $9.99/month or $39.99/year, billed through the Apple App Store, with a 30-day free trial for new subscribers. Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled in your iPhone's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Apple handles billing, renewals, and refunds; see our support page for help.

Past the daily limit, nothing you say is lost. Your words are still transcribed and saved — they simply aren't written up into an entry until the next day, or with a membership.

If you stop subscribing, you do not lose anything you wrote. Your existing entries stay readable, searchable and exportable, and you can keep writing one entry a day. Membership is what adds the rest.

Acceptable Use

Don't abuse the service, attempt to access other accounts or systems without permission, upload harmful or illegal content, reverse-engineer the app's security, or use YapJar in a way that violates law or the rights of others.

Availability and Changes

YapJar is actively developed. Features may change, break, or be removed, and access may be limited during maintenance or rollouts. We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new effective date.

YapJar is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, to the extent permitted by law.
